Hyderabad, Sindh: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s leading exploration and production (E&P) company, has significantly boosted oil production at its Kunnar Oil Field in the Hyderabad district of Sindh.
In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), OGDCL announced that the production at Kunnar-12 well has increased from 1,060 barrels per day (bpd) to 1,820 bpd, marking an impressive 760 bpd increment. This enhancement was achieved through production optimization efforts, including replacing the conventional Jet Pump with an advanced Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP).
Additionally, the company successfully revived the previously dormant Kunnar-6 well, which had been shut down due to high water production and low oil recovery. By implementing a comprehensive strategy, including rigless interventions in the Lower Goru Upper Sand and re-completion with an ESP, Kunnar-6 is now producing 400 bpd of oil.
These interventions have collectively added 1,160 bpd to the Kunnar Oil Field’s output, showcasing OGDCL’s technical expertise and innovative approach to maximizing resource utilization.
As Pakistan’s largest E&P company, OGDCL operates across 40% of the country’s exploration acreage, providing vital contributions to national energy security through exploration, drilling, production, reservoir management, and engineering services. This achievement further cements OGDCL’s role as a critical player in the nation’s energy landscape.
